Holiday Park De Kuilart, the ideal starting point
De Kuilart is the ideal starting point to discover the beautiful spots of the province Friesland (Fryslân). A good example is the cycling route from Koudum along Workum, Heeg, Woudsend and Balk. This route is 65 km long which gives you the perfect oppportunity to enjoy the Friesland that is abounding in water. You will cycle around the largest lake of Friesland, De Fluessen, and will cycle along large meadows with monumental Frisian farmhouses. A nice variation are the descending fields and forests of Gaasterland during the last part of the route. You can also cycle the route the other way around of course.
- Cheesefarm “De Nylander”, in Workum
Are you curious how cheese is made? At the cheese farm biological cheese is made and tours are offered. During the tour they will tell you all about the preparation of cheese, the farm and the special variation there is in taste. - Restaurant “D’ Ald Wal”, in Heeg
The always enjoyable water village Heeg is located on the edge of the Heegermeer. If you are looking for a lovely terrace at the water to enjoy the watersport of Friesland, try the terrace of restaurant d’Ald Wal. D’Ald Wal is a restaurant located in the centre of Heeg with a lovely terrace at the waterside.
- Lumber mill “De Jager”, in Woudsend
A lumber mill that stems from the 1719 is located in Woudsend at the “Ee”. The mill is almost completely authentic with her three saw frames and sleep slope. - “De Luts”, in Balk
This waterway named “De Luts” is a remarkable piece, but also one of the weakest spots, of the Frisian Eleven Cities Route. It goes from the Slotermeer until the forests of Gaasterland towards De Fluessen. The route along De Luts is well-known for the beautiful forests and fields, which makes it a pleasant variation with the meadows.
